CARY It Forward – “light the path for a brighter future.”

CARY is proud to host our sixth annual “CARY It Forward” event! Join us as we celebrate the success of our students and honor those who help CARY continue its mission.

Enjoy a fantastic evening with delicious food, entertainment by Austin’s own Blakchyl, and an exciting silent auction. We are also honored to present the CARY It Forward Award to the Henry Opolot for his incredible contributions to our mission.

Featuring Special Guest – Blakchyl

Rapper Blakchyl is a highly respected, community-minded wordsmith, having come up in the local hip hop community collaborating with music collectives, nonprofits and filmmakers. The queer artist has an Austin Chronicle cover, three European tours, and a 2023 ACL Fest appearance under her belt, plus opening slots for Talib Kweli, Snow Tha Product, Jean Grae, Bizzy Bone and Scarface. Her new album Better Than I Imagined (produced by The Mask), was accompanied by a short film and dropped in July. It all comes down to her “powerful and effervescent songs” (CultureMap) and her love for the craft and its community

Why Attend?

Proceeds from this event directly support CARY (Council on At-Risk Youth) in our mission to keep Central Texas students in school and out of the school-to-prison pipeline through life skills training and counseling. Together, we can make a lasting impact and inspire a brighter future for every child!
