“An Evening At The Thinkery”
presenting Two Guys On Your Head!
Dr. Art Markman and Dr. Bob Duke with Rebecca McInroy will explore topics associated with the brain and why we do what we do!
Art Markman, PhD is the Anabel Irion Worsham Centennial Professor of Psychology and Marketing and Executive Director of the IC2 Institute. He has written over 150 scholarly papers on topics including reasoning, decision making and motivation. Art brings insights from cognitive science to a broader audience through his blogs at Psychology Today and Fast Company as well a his radio show/podcast Two Guys on Your Head. He has written several books including Smart Thinking, Smart Change, and Brain Briefs. His next book, Bring Your Brain to Work comes out in June. When Art isn’t working or spending time with his family, he can be found playing saxophone in the ska band Phineas Gage.
Bob Duke is the Marlene and Morton Meyerson Centennial Professor and Head of Music and Human Learning at The University of Texas at Austin, where he is a University and University of Texas System Distinguished Teaching Professor, Elizabeth Shatto Massey Distinguished Fellow in Teacher Education, and Director of the Center for Music Learning. He is also a clinical professor in the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas and was the founding director of the psychology of learning program at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. His most recent books are Intelligent Music Teaching: Essays on the Core Principles of Effective Instruction, The Habits of Musicianship, which he co-authored with Jim Byo of Louisiana State University, and Brain Briefs, which he co-authored with Art Markman, his co-host on the public radio program and podcast Two Guys on Your Head, produced by KUT Radio in Austin.
On May 2nd from 6-9PM we will explore the Thinkery with drinks, appetizers and a silent auction.
